They are also known as shower bombs or shower melting, they are like bombs. I will put one on the side of the tub, where the shower water can reach it and release the fragrance.
Homemade shower steamer are activated once and bubbles and smell well in the shower. In contrast to boarding bombs, which also offer skin advantages, these are more for aromatherapy advantages.
Shower steamer ingredients
Shower steamer are made from a variety of ingredients, which usually include baking powder, bitter salt, citric acid, essential oils and hazel capsule. You will also find sound, botanical, food coloring, fragrance oils and mica powder or color (depending on the recipe).
My recipe uses baking powder and citric acid as the basis. The EPSOM salts help to harden it, and castor oil acts as an emulsifier, so that they are less likely to crumble. Kaolin Clay also makes her heavier and can add a nice color. If you are desired, you can also add some mica powder or natural food coloring.
How to use shower steamer
If you use a mini-muffing size, the shower steamer should take a normal length for a shower. You may need two for smaller shapes.
You want to put it in your shower where the water can reach you but do not rinse the drain immediately. If you are on the shower floor, keep a few minutes (if that). The best place is the bathtub or a shower shelf. If you have the only option, the shower floor is sure that it is as far as possible from the shower head.

Add the drops of essential oil and castor oil and mix well with your hand until the mixture resembles wet sand.
-
If the mix is too dry, use a fine fog spray bottle filled with vodka or witches to moisturize the mixture. Do only 2 sprays at the same time to avoid it gets too wet.
-
As soon as you can press the shower steam mixture into a lump that holds the shape, it is ready.
-
Immediately press the mixture into your shapes and press.
-
Let the air dry for 24 hours before removing and using.
This recipe makes 7 shower steamer if you use a mini muffin pan. If you use a silicone shape, the exact yield depends on the size of your shapes.
How to make shower steamer FAQ
While the recipe uses simple ingredients, it can be a little difficult to produce DIY shower steamer when you are a beginner. I found a few tricks so that the recipe works better if you have to fix errors!
Add just enough liquid
The citric acid gives the recipe a bubbly, foaming effect. If it gets too wet when mixing, it will be activated prematurely and your shower steamer will not hold together.
You can either use 80-point-off-coda or witch hazelnut to add just enough moisture to hold the steamer together. It behaves the dry ingredients so that they stick together, but alcohol is also a little dried to prevent it from getting too wet.
Get the lumps out
Make sure the powder is mixed thoroughly before adding the damp ingredients. You can even sift the dry ingredients together first to make this easier (minus the bitter salt).
Can I just use water?
Witch Hazel has some alcohol that works here. Wodka is another good option. Don’t worry, the smell of alcohol disappears when you dry. I don’t even notice it when I press them into the shapes.
My shower steamer fell apart
Don’t take them out of the shapes or the shower steamer too early. You need 12-24 hours to dry completely at room temperature. The use of too much liquid also drops apart.
If your surroundings are really damp, as in summer or in certain climate zones, you need less vodka or witches. The dry ingredients pull moisture out of the air. So set the liquid used as required.
