DIY -SANDELHOLZ -HOUNG

I used a variation of this homemade browning oil for years. When a friend asked about a natural homemade browning oil recently, I thought it was time to share the recipe.

I occasionally use mine Homemade sunscreen When I’m in the sun for a long time. In general, I prefer to get free vitamin D from its source by moderate sunlight. I prefer it Eat my sun protection Instead of pushing it onto my skin …

Sometimes I am on the beach (which is now a lot, now we live near one!) Or where I can alternate between sunlight or shadow of an umbrella and a good book. Here I only prefer natural oils that nourish my skin and easily protect without blocking vitamin D D. In contrast to many sunscreens.

DIY tanning oil

Although many of my recipes are solid like Lotion bars or Body butterThis is a liquid oil. It makes it easier when you are on the go. If you prefer a firmer recipe, you can do this with virgin coconut oil that hardens at 76 degrees and store it in a small glass.

Sun protection natural ingredients

Here things become a little controversial and cloudy. Over a decade ago, researchers tested raspberry oil and other natural oils to determine their SPF values. The test results showed amazing SPF values of 25 SPF or even up to 50 SPF against UV rays.

In recent times, however, scientists have pointed out the shortcomings in these studies. They were carried out in vitro (not on the actual skin) and followed not generally recognized SPF test guidelines.

A 2021 study showed that raspberry seed oil is rather 2.6 SPF (not 25-50). Other tested oils included carrot seed, coconut and wheat germ oil between 0 and 2.8 SPF. The researchers commented that everything under 1 SPF does not offer sun protection at all.

Another 2010 study examined the SPF both the carrier oil and the essential oils. The carrier oils were between 2 and 8 SPF and essential oils from 1 to 7 SPF. Olive oil and peppermint essential oil were highest. But not so quickly! This study was not carried out on human skin and even the authors state that their results do not tighten the final SPF values when using the skin.

Carrot seed oil products showed an SPF value of almost 7. However, the carrot seed oil was combined with other ingredients for testing.

So is there something like natural SPF oils that help with a safe browning process?

A safer browning lotion

While some of the oils used here may have a light measurable SPF protection or not, they have other skin advantages. If you are combined in a homemade browning oil oil, help you protect the skin and nourish and support the vitamin -D production. It is important to note that this is not a substitute for normal sunscreen.

  • olive oil – Has acid that supports clearer skin and phytosterols to attract moisture. It helps to repair sun damage and calm dry skin. It also has a high degree of squales that protect our skin cells and has anti-aging properties. Olive oil was traditionally used in Mediterranean countries as natural skin protection for a dark tan.
  • Avocado oil – Rich vitamins A, B and E, proteins and amino acids. It increases the skin’s collagen. Avocado oil is also high in UV protection agent carotenoids to protect against sun damage.
  • Carrot seed oil -A high vitamin a beta-carotene and vitamin E to protect against UV rays. This is not the same as macerated carrot root oil (orange) or essential carrot seed oil. Cold carrot seed oil naturally has a dark green color and looks more like olive oil.
  • Raspberry oil – High in antioxidative vitamins E and A. Raspberry is also a lighter oil that does not feel greasy when used.

I also added Bronze glimmer powder For a subtle bronze gloss, but you can leave it out if you don’t have it or don’t want to use it.

Add essential oils

I used some essential lavender and sandal wood oils for their skin advantages and scent. Indian sandalwood smells sweet but Australian sandalwood is more affordable. Since sandalwood is endangered, it is at risk, although it is important to buy from an ethically harvested source!

You can use different essential oils here or omit them completely if necessary. If you replace you for another essential oil, it is really important not to use phototoxic! Certain essential oils such as bergamot and cold -pressed lime and lemon can burn really bad skin when using solar radiation.

Important: sunk testing direction

This is not sun protection, but a mild recipe for sunscreen. It is important to test in the sun with a short time to find out what works best for your body and skin type. I share what worked best for me, but optimize it so that you meet your skin type and the desired result.

Of course, all the usual disclaimers apply: sunburn is never healthy and should be avoided. You shouldn’t spend long periods of time in the sun, especially if you have very sensitive skin.

If you cannot brown, this recipe does not help you to tan the tan in a magical way. I do not support regular browns in an electric bed and only use this for moderate and natural sunlight. Contact a dermatologist if you are not sure about one of these ingredients or want to know whether this recipe is especially good for your skin.

  • Mix all the oils and mica powder (if used) and store in a dark -colored glass container. If you decide to replace olive oil coconut oil, store it in a glass instead because it does not work with a pump.

I use this as a need for light sunlight and it helped me get a golden tan without burning.
